Disturbing Images in Japanese Cartoons

So. There's this cartoon character I've been seeing around that's apparently very popular. Inquiry to various Japanese people has determined that it is Anpan Man, a superhero who is anko (red bean paste) filled bread. His friends, such as Melon Pan, are also bread. There is a yeast bacteria that tries to be the bad guy but always fails. It's a popular children's anime (cartoon show).

I saw this anime yesterday. There were a few things that weirded me out a little, and then I shouted in surprise...

Okay. So, the bad guy launches a robotic head of himself and it lands outside Anpan Man's home. The head was slightly scary; it would've freaked me out if I was little. But that's not the freaky part. It told Anpan Man that the bad guy had captured his friends.

Then he flew to a tree where all his friends were hanging, tied up. But it turned out they WEREN'T his friends- but robots! Kinda creepy-looking, especially when I was prepared for them to look like the robotic head and they were different-looking. But that wasn't the freaky part.

Then the robots drenched Anpanman in water and his face got all brown and shriveled and his eyes turned into X's! Awful imagery for a little kid. But that wasn't the freaky part.

The freaky part was when Anpan Man, obviously having difficulty flying because of his ruined head, is caught up to by his friend in a plane... who then shouts, "Anpan Man! Here's a new/fresh face!!" and then flings a Anman Man head at him, which knocks off the old, shrivelled head!

AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! :O
